The Crozet Community Orchestra (CCO) was launched in October 2013 by co-founders Denise Murray and Philip Clark, with the goal of serving the greater Crozet community through performance, education and community outreach to enhance the community’s appreciation and understanding of orchestral music. We performed our first public concert at Tabor Presbyterian Church on Dec 10, 2013 with 16 string musicians.
The CCO is now a 501(c)(3) non profit cultural and educational organization, that is governed by a board of directors and bylaws. We are a diverse group of approximately 70 volunteer musicians of all ages and experience levels – amateurs, students, retirees, advanced beginners to professionals on strings, winds, brass and percussion instruments. We aim to provide an open door opportunity for local musicians in a supportive, non competitive atmosphere. Our Community Through Music projects focus on collaboration with other area groups, organizations, music and arts teachers and schools.
The CCO is open to all musicians age 14 and up. Generally, no auditions are required. A minimum of two years playing experience on your instrument and good sight reading skills are strongly recommended. Younger musicians considered at the discretion of the music director. The cost is $65 for an 8-10 week session, due at the first rehearsal. (A limited number of need based financial SCHOLARSHIPS are available. Please click to inquire).
The CCO also accepts tax deductible donations by mail. Our mailing address is:
